Wayne is the 7th generation of Burns' continuing the tradition of farming in Bovina, New York. He was born and raised on his family dairy farm, he may not have been born in a barn but he got there as fast as he could. Although Wayne's true passion is turning wrenches, he has never missed a hay season since he started operating machinery at a young age.
Wayne and Roxy met in the spring of 2008, and started dating in June 2009 where their love of farming bloomed together with many hours spent in or on a tractor. We got married in June 2017 and shortly after started a dairy goat herd, by fall we added sheep to our small growing herd. In May of 2021 we expanded our family with our Daughter Mary-Elizabeth who has a huge love for farming and is now the 8th generation to continue farming in Bovina. As the farm grows so is our family, coming June 2023 we are adding a little boy to our farm family.
A little more about the animals we raise around the farm, so august 2017 we added dairy goats, October of 2017 we added sheep, we have egg laying chickens since 2011, but in august 2018 we tried our hand at meat chickens with huge success, currently on order for 2023 we have 800 meat chicks on order to raise all summer. In the summer of 2020 we started adding Boer goats to a heard of dairy goats, we currently have 35 goats, and 18 sheep. June 2021 we bought our first piglet that has now grown into 4 breeding sows and a boar, and in January 2023 we added a new herd of black Angus heifers to our growing farm.
